Roxana and Daniel had a traditional Romanian wedding. The reception was not your typical wedding reception with a DJ, dancing, and all the traditional reception stuff. Instead it was like a big family dinner! They played games and just socialized the entire night. It was so much fun to shoot a reception that was not like any other! Roxana and Daniel saw each other before the wedding at Papago Park and we did some wedding party pictures there as well. The ceremony was a celebration of both of them, with family singing songs, prayers and words of encouragement. Congratulations you guys!

An image of mine was recently selected along with 19 other images in a photography contest through Pictage. The contest was entitled “Your most meaningful image”. The winning photographs were selected based on the quality and composition of the image along with a story explaining the meaning behind the image. My story and winning image are below. The winning images will be mounted and displayed at Pictage’s offices in California and they will be sending me a mounted print for my house!
Story:
This image has very special meaning to me because it was the first time that I witnessed children who had severe cases of cancer. The meaningful part of the story is that I documented the true emotion behind the tragedy, but wouldn’t wish the sickness on any child. I shot this Image in a government run hospital in Swaziland, a country landlocked by South Africa, which has an immense amount of poverty. I was there with a media agency documenting the effects of poverty on society. Even through all the despair and sadness, these kids still managed to show love and joy in our presence. I don’t know if this little guy is still alive from his battle with cancer and I will always wonder, but this image is a meaningful reminder to be thankful for life.

Wedding date: 8/5/2011
I had the privilege to photograph my dad’s wedding. I was also in the wedding as his co-best man with my brother. Needless to say, I didn’t get many ceremony shots. I handed my camera to my Aunt. Who, got some really good images! (not posted here). Anyways, I found some time to get down…. even took the microphone and did a little singing. Some fun shots!

This band was awesome! They got right into the mix of everything on the dance floor. My dad even sang. Weird….. Never seen that happen before.
